Record Breaking Collection at Second E-Waste Recycling Event

May 7, 2026

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ is advancing sustainability through its growing e-waste collection program, bringing together campus, community, and regional partners for meaningful impact.

Hosted at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ’s Student Union Building in partnership with Ecyclers and Idaho National Laboratory, the university successfully organized two collection events:
December 13, 2025: 34 households, 1,987 lbs collected
April 25, 2026: 116 households, 7,311 lbs collected

In total, 150 households helped divert 9,298 pounds of e-waste from landfills. The second event saw a 268% increase in collection, highlighting strong growth in community participation and awareness. This surge reflects a shift toward more responsible disposal practices and reinforces the importance of accessible sustainability programs. The events brought together teams from Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, Ecyclers of Idaho, and Idaho National Laboratory, ensuring smooth coordination and execution.

By diverting over 9,000 pounds of electronics, the events help reduce environmental risk and promoting a circular economy. This initiative marks a significant step in the university’s sustainability journey and demonstrates the impact of strong partnerships. Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ remains committed to continuing this collaboration and expanding efforts, making e-waste recycling a lasting and impactful part of campus sustainability.
