African roots of jazz topic of Oct. 24 Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Humanities Café at Portneuf Valley Brewery

POCATELLO – The Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Department of History will present the Humanities Café “The African Roots of Jazz Music” at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Portneuf Valley Brewery in Pocatello.

The event starts with free appetizers at 5:30 p.m. followed by a presentation at 6 p.m. by Raphael Njoku, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ history professor and professor and chair of the Department of Global Studies and Languages, and music by Red Hill Junction.

This year's Humanities Cafe series will feature the theme of Global Idaho, an exploration of how Idaho scholars, researchers, artists and performers' work reaches beyond the state's border.

The series is sponsored by the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Cultural Events Committee.
