Stuart Summers named associate vice president of ĢƵ’s Office of Marketing and Communications

POCATELLO – Stuart Summers, most recently director of marketing and recruitment at the ĢƵ College of Technology, has been named associate vice president of the ĢƵ Office of Marketing and Communications.
“We are excited about the skills and energy Stuart will bring to our Office of Marketing and Communications,” said Kent Tingey, ĢƵ vice president for advancement. “His background, knowledge and successes in branding, marketing and recruitment will enhance and build upon the University’s efforts in these areas. We welcome Stuart to his new role at ĢƵ.”
He will begin his new duties Jan. 4.
“ĢƵ is a distinguished institution with an outstanding legacy of education,” Summers said. “I look forward to joining a talented marketing and communications team as we work together to share ĢƵ’s successes with the world. Great things are happening at ĢƵ, and it’s a great time to be a Bengal.”
As director of marketing and recruitment at the ĢƵ College of Technology, Summers supervises a staff of seven and coordinates and plans all marketing efforts, advertising campaigns, recruitment events and communication initiatives for the college. His duties include creating and implementing an annual marketing plan focused on increasing enrollment and community awareness. He also directly works with the media to answer all inquiries.
Additionally, he oversees the expenditure of an annual public relations and marketing budget, which incorporates television, radio, web, social media and print advertising. He is the current editor and layout manager of the Tech Annual, an ĢƵ magazine with a direct mail circulation to 21,000 recipients.
In 2014, Summers was nationally recognized for a social media promotion that he helped co-developed on behalf of ĢƵ. The social media initiative generated more than 180,000 entries and effectively communicated ĢƵ’s mission to a national audience. Following its successful implementation he was the co-recipient of several awards from advertising and higher education organizations.
Prior to working at ĢƵ, Summers produced and co-anchored a highly rated morning show at KPVI-TV in Pocatello that included breaking news, weather alerts, live reports and sit-down interviews.
Summers earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in international studies with a minor in mass communications from ĢƵ and earned English as a Second Language Certification from Brigham Young University.
