Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Choral Festival Concert set Oct. 15; 500 prep singers to join three Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ choral groups

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ will host a Choral Invitational Festival Friday and Saturday Oct. 14-15, culminating in a performance by 11 high school choirs from throughout Idaho and the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ choirs at 7 p.m. Oct. 15 in the Joseph C. and Cheryl H. Jensen Grand Concert Hall in the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center. Participants from a previous Choral Invitational Festival.

The performance will include high school choirs from Bonneville, Caldwell, Century, Highland, Hillcrest, Idaho Falls, Madison, Minico, Moscow, Preston and Skyline, and Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµâ€™s Chamber, Concert and Women’s choirs. More than 500 high school choir students are attending this event.

The festival's guest clinician is Will Kesling, director of choral activities at the University of Florida School of Music.

The high school students will work with Kesling and Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ music faculty Scott Anderson, festival director and director of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ choral program, and Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ vocal and choral professors Kathleen Lane, Diana Livingston Friedley and Geoffrey Friedley.

The festival pianist is Camille Blackburn.

 The Choral Invitational Concert on Oct. 15 will feature performances by the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Women’s Choir, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Chamber Choir, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Concert Choir and each high school choir, ending with a massed choir of all 500 high school students from around the state.

Admittance for the festival concert on Oct. 15 is free for Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ students and costs $4 for pre-college students, $6 for staff and faculty and $8 for general admission. Children younger than 6 will not be permitted to attend.
