2007 Silver Anniversary ‘I Love ĢƵ’ campaign is Sept. 10-11 in Idaho Falls
September 7, 2007
The year 2007 marks the 25th anniversary of the “I Love ĢƵ” campaign to raise money for ĢƵ scholarships. The Idaho Falls “I Love ĢƵ” campaign will be Sept. 10-11.
Volunteers from Bonneville, Bingham, Power and Bannock counties annually work the telephones in September to provide ĢƵ scholarships. All money raised in a county goes to scholarships for students from that county.
Last year, “I Love ĢƵ” broke previous records and exceeded its goal by raising $365,123. The goal for the campaign’s Silver Anniversary year is $380,000. Volunteers in Idaho Falls raised $26,600, and have a 2007 goal of $30,000.
Last year, ĢƵ awarded 1,616 total scholarships valued at $3.1 million in the four-county area.
This is the 14th year Idaho Falls has staged a campaign. The Bonneville County-campaign will operate 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. from the Samuel H. Bennion Student Union Building at ĢƵ-Idaho Falls.
According to K.C. Felt, director of annual giving for the ĢƵ Foundation, campaign leaders Sheri Dewey, director of financial aid for ĢƵ-Idaho Falls, and Sharon Price, long-time ĢƵ activist now living in Idaho Falls, “will lead a group of more than 30 individuals in Idaho Falls to call their peers and business associates to raise scholarship dollars for local Idaho Falls students.”
Felt adds, “For 25 years, businesses and individuals in southeast Idaho have supported this community-based effort. It is our fervent desire that they continue this support. These scholarships reach students who want an education, and ĢƵ wants these students.”
